What's In a Name

Week 1: Wonderful Counselor

Isaiah 9:6 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Hebrews 4:15-16 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

Luke 5:31 And Jesus answered them, "Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick.

#1 - Be completely honest with the Counselor

Psalm 55:22 "Cast your burden on the LORD, and he will sustain you; he will never permit the righteous to be moved."

#2 - Listen To The Counselor's Voice

Mark 9:7 "And a cloud overshadowed them, and a voice came out of the cloud, “This is my beloved Son; listen to him.”

John 10:27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.

#3 - Do What The Counselor Tells Us To Do

Mark 10:20-22 And he said to him, “Teacher, all these I have kept from my youth.” And Jesus, looking at him, loved him, and said to him, "You lack one thing: go, sell all that you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me." Disheartened by the saying, he went away sorrowful, for he had great possessions.
